HIMACHAL PRADESH

 DYFI’s Future Plans

THE stage is set for a phased action plan by the Himachal state unit of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI). As an important part of it, the DYFI has decided to hold a massive rally at Shimla on November 15, on the slogan of Alternative Education, Employment and Development.

The decision was taken in a daylong state committee meeting held at Shimla. The rally will precede the DYFI’s two-day state conference on November 16 and 17.

The DYFI has decided to blast the bogus propaganda of the ruling elite that “there is no alternative” to the suicidal LPG policies they are following. The DYFI said the aim of the rally is to project and highlight the scope of an alternative. It will also organise a three-day workshop of eminent scientists, social scientists, environmentalists, educationists, doctors and other intellectuals, and the workshop will prepare a comprehensive draft on alternative policies. The significant aspect, which the DYFI wants to highlight, is that this exercise will not remain an academic one but will be taken to the masses. This exercise is directed to set an agenda on economic issues in the state, and set a political agenda before the common people.

The DYFI state committee stated in this regard that the students and youth would set a political agenda before the people of the state. An essential characteristic of the campaign will be that it would not be limited to mere propaganda but would set an agitation line for the Himachal people. The SFI and DYFI will be the basic organisational props for this agitation. The November 15 rally would be the starter in this regard.

In the meantime, the DYFI observed September 27, the birth anniversary of martyr Bhagat Singh, as the blood donation day statewide. Blood donation camps were organised and the film The Legend of Bhagat Singh was shown  throughout the state. On the day, hundreds of activists reiterated their commitment to the ideals laid down by the great revolutionary.

Candle light processions, seminars, etc will also be organised as part of the DYFI programme. The programme will conclude in December. (INN)
