CPI(M) MPs Commiserate With
Akshardham Victims
THE
CPI(M) has voiced its sharp condemnation and expressed its anguish over the
terrorists attack on the Akshardham Temple of the Swaminarayana sect on
September 24 in Gandhinagar. The Party has sent a delegation of two of its
senior members of parliament, Nilotpal Basu, chief whip of its group in Rajya
Sabha and Moninul Hasan from Lok Sabha, to express its concern and solidarity
with the victims. After visiting the temple and the victims in the hospital,
they have issued the following statement:
Accompanied
by the state secretary of the CPI(M), Arun Mehta, and AIDWA leader, Nalini
Jadeja, we have visited the Akshardham temple on September 27th morning. We have
also visited the city civil hospital to wish the victims a speedy recovery.
After having seen the manner in which terrorists launched the dastardly attack
on the innocent pilgrims, men, women and children, we do not find adequate words
to condemn this attack. We also salute the security forces who even at the cost
of their lives did not flinch from the task of saving the innocents. The
barbaric nature of this attack once again establishes that such criminality
cannot represent any religion.
It
also surprised us as to how such a well planned attack could take place in a
high security area. We urge upon both the state and the central administrations
to uncover the entire plot leading to the great tragedy. It is absolutely
necessary to marshall evidence and proof of the cross border links of the
terrorists as the government is claiming and tell the world about this obnoxious
design.
Finally,
we urge the people of all sections and communities in Gujarat to remain united
and peaceful because only a people united can fight and defeat the menace of
terrorism. In this hour of trial the peace and democracy loving people of the
country stand behind Gujarat.
