Zyuganov Writes To Surjeet
Following is
the letter sent by Gennady Zyuganov, chairman of the Central Committee,
Communist Party of the Russian Federation to Harkishan Singh Surjeet,
general secretary of Communist Party of India (Marxist) on November 14, 2002:
We
all are witnessing growing struggle against American-style globalisation
developing in the world. This globalisation is a threat to the whole mankind.
However, the attempts of the cosmopolitan speculative capital and transnational
corporations to impose their will on the world are facing an increased
resistance.
We are aware that India as a country with
an ancient civilisation, with a great and talented people and fast growing
economy has always been playing a special role in the resistance to the
globalisation. Therefore we are watching with great interest the activities of
our Indian comrades.
Russia,
subjected now to powerful pressure of globalisation forces, is facing problems
that it had never encountered before 1991 when the Soviet Union was destroyed.
This brings about the need to reassess the developments in Russia and around
Russia from the point of view of globalisation.
One
of the results of our theoretical work was the book “Globalisation and the
Destiny of Mankind”. Please find attached this book. Hope that your
Russian-speaking comrades will help you to get acquainted with its contents.
Should
you come to a conclusion that this book might be of interest to the broader
sections of Indian public it might be useful to have the book translated into
English.
