New
Delhi, November 4: On the occasion
of the 23rd Foundation Day of the Democratic Youth Federation of
India, the central executive committee organised a Blood Donation Camp at the
central office in New Delhi with the help of Rotary Club of Noida city. The camp
was inaugurated by Harkishan Singh Surjeet CPI(M) general secretary. The others
present at the occasion were PMS Grewal, CPI(M) Delhi state secretary and Tapas
Sinha, DYFI All India general secretary. The function was presided over by K N
Balagopal, DYFI All India joint secretary.
The
function started with flag hoisting ceremony and floral tributes to the
martyrs’ columns. While inaugurating the function Surjeet congratulated DYFI
for continuing their struggle in the entire country for the last twenty five
years. Remembering his days when youth were part and parcel of the freedom
struggle, he said that the need of the time is to organize the youths of the
country to strengthen the fight against imperialism, globalization and
liberalization. Not only that the youth of the country should also actively
participate in the social welfare programmes.
Pointing out a finger at the recent communal carnage in Gujarat, Surjeet
congratulated the DYFI members for taking up the relief work and helping the
affected people of Gujarat to once again start a new life.
Speaking
at the ceremony, PMS Grewal the Delhi CPI(M) secretary emphasized on the fight
of the youth against the imperialist forces which are affecting their life.
At a time when the imperialist culture is clouding the lives of the youth
in general, the DYFI is an organization which is fighting at every step to build
a just social order in the country. He also said that despite the holiday and
festival day DYFI comrades came in a large number to donate their blood, which
in itself is a great achievement.
The
DYFI general secretary Tapas Sinha stressed the history of the organization from
its conceptional day. He said that at the time of the foundation of the
organization the DYFI had ten lakh members but over the years it has grown and
become the largest youth organization of the country with membership crossing
one crore seventeen lakhs. The organization has been at the forefront of the
social and political movements in the country.
The
governor of Rotary Club of Noida City Sanjeev Khanna and its president Peter
Arackal has congratulated the DYFI members for making the occasion a great
success.

Condemns Brutal Killing of Labourers
ON
October 27 night, at about 1 a m, NDFB extremists gunned down 22 agricultural
labourers in village Dadgiri of Assam’s Kokrajhar district on Indo-Bhutan
border.
Condemning
this brutal killing of innocent labourers, the central executive committee (CEC)
of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has demanded immediate arrest
of and exemplary punishment to the terrorist criminals. Through a statement
issued by DYFI general secretary Tapas Sinha, the CEC appealed to the people to
raise their voice against the imperialist-backed extremist outfits that are
trying to jeopardise the unity and integrity of our country. The CEC also
appealed to the government of India as well as the government of Assam to
effectively combat the separatist and extremist forces. (INN)
