SFI Hails SC Order On NCERT Syllabus
HE Students Federation of India (SFI) has hailed the Supreme Courts interim order, staying the implementation of the National Curriculum Framework for Secondary Education that aims to saffronise education in order to push through the Sangh Parivars hidden agenda. The SFI said the order was a setback to the NDA government and to the HRD minister Murli Manohar Joshi, and vindicated the stand taken by the secular and democratic forces earlier on this issue.
The HRD ministry consciously avoided a parliamentary discussion on the National Curriculum Framework. Nor did it consult the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) that comprises noted educationists and experts of the country. It is to be noted that this time the government deliberately avoided constituting the CABE. It feared that an overwhelming section of the academic community of the country would oppose its agenda to communalise education. The SFI said in the wake of the interim order issued by the highest court of the country, the HRD minister has no moral claim to the office. (INN)
