Comrade Siyavar Sharan Srivastava

Harkishan Singh Surjeet, general secretary of the CPI(M), sent the following message to the Bihar state committee of the party on February 28, 2002, condoling the death of Comrade Siyavar Sharan Srivastave.

AM deeply shocked and grieved on learning about the death of Comrade Siyavar Sharan Srivastava.

Comrade Siyavar was a member of the undivided Communist Party and was instrumental in forming the CPI(M) in Bihar in 1964. He was the only member of the state executive committee of the undivided party who fought against revisionism and opted to join the CPI(M). From its formation in 1964 till the year 1980, Comrade Siyavar worked as the secretary of the Bihar state committee of the CPI(M). He was also a member of the Central Committee of the party.

In his death, the party has lost a champion of the downtrodden sections, a relentless fighter for the cause of the poor and a gifted and able organiser. We will always remember him for his contribution to the communist movement and the inspiration that he provided to countless comrades.

On behalf of the Polit Bureau and on my own behalf, I would like to share your grief and sorrow. Please convey our condolences to his family members.
