KERALA STRIKE

SFI Solidarity Demonstration On March 5

THE Students Federation of India (SFI) today urged the student community across India to organise solidarity demonstrations in the respective campuses on March 5 in support of the indefinite strike by the more than 5.5 lakh government employees and teachers in Kerala. The indefinite strike in Kerala will complete one month on March 5.

A statement issued by the president and general secretary of SFI, P Krishnaprasad and Samik Lahiri, noted that the ongoing indefinite strike has paralysed the entire government machinery in Kerala. The unity exhibited by the striking workers and teachers in Kerala is a model for all other sections in the society, who have become victims of the economic liberalisation under the NDA regime, they felt.

All patriotic citizens including students who wish to safeguard the economic self-reliability and political sovereignty of India were called upon to actively support this strike.
