CONCRETE achievement coupled with confident aspiration of the people in the teeth of tremendous odds, is the hallmark of a Left Front government stated the Left Front leaders at a massive rally organised on June 26 at Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhavan compound by Tripura Left Front committee to commemorate the completion of West Bengal Left Front governments 25 years in office.
The rally presided over by the CPI(M) state secretary and state Left Front convenor Baidyanath Majumder, was addressed among others by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member, and secretary of Bengal state committee, Anil Biswas and Tripura chief minister Manik Sarkar. People from all over Agartala as well as the Sadar Bishalgarh sub-divisions came to participate in the rally chanting slogans to greet the Left Front government and the revolutionary populace of West Bengal.
With most of the state populace by its side, the West Bengal Left Front government has in the last 25 years traversed miles in safeguarding the peoples interest and is now poised to proceed along the miles ahead, said Anil Biswas addressing the rally. Amid jubilant cheers of the rallyists, he affirmed that the track record of the Left Fronts recent electoral success show that it can go on to break the record of the straight 31 years of Congress rule in Andhra Pradesh. He also referred to the inseparable bond of brotherhood between West Bengal and Tripura forged in the fire of fighting the enemies of the people since the seventies. Both West Bengal and Tripura Left Front governments have been lasting long, barring a brief black out of democracy in Tripura for the five years in between by a usurper regime in the backdrop of ceaseless social and political unrest. He pointed out that the key to such outstanding stability is the growing trust of the people in the programmes and principles of the Left Front. Outlining the West Bengal Left Front governments solid success over the last 25 years, he stated that its future aim is to consolidate such success and build the base for further development in the face of formidable adversities ahead.
Addressing the rally, chief minister Manik Sarkar said West Bengal has not been fighting for its own development, but also acting as the polestar before the toiling masses of the country to set up a truly national alternative comprising the Left, democratic and secular forces. According to him the secret of the Left Fronts success is trusting and respecting the people and involving them in all its endeavours. He called upon the party activists to play a historic role in forging the Left democratic alternative by deepening their link with the people, including a modesty in words and gestures and foiling all sorts of divisive designs with an electoral vigil alongside consolidating the ideological and political war with razor-sharp determination.
In his presidential speech Baidyanath Majumdar voiced his deep confidence that despite the series of reactionary backlash against their unique mass base, the West Bengal and Tripura Left Front governments will go on winning the mandate of the people in the years to come, because, the people have never been betrayed by the Left Front governments.
Reiterating the diametric difference between Left Front government and bourgeois governments, Forward Block state chairman Brajagopal Roy, RSP state secretary Sudarshan Bhattacharjee and the state CPI leader Dinesh Saha in their address gave a fervent call to the people for unitedly foiling all anti-Left Front conspiracies and protect the West Bengal and Tripura Left Front governments like the apple of their eye.
