THE Students Federation of India (SFI) and the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) have called upon the youth and students of Uttar Pradesh to defeat the BJP, which these organisations dubbed as the agent of communal terrorism and American imperialism. They appealed to the youth and students of UP to bring Lok Morcha to power for the sake of education, employment and pro-people development.

The joint SFI-DYFI statement was issued from Lucknow, on January 7, by UP state DYFI president Premnath Rai and SFI’s all-India president P Krishnaprasad.

Dubbing the BJP-led government of Uttar Pradesh as a total failure, and marked by infighting and caste war inside the BJP, the SFI and DYFI said the BJP government has destroyed the economy of the state. Both agriculture and industry are facing a severe crisis. Prices of agricultural produce have crashed and factories are getting closed. Instead of generating more job opportunities for unemployed youth as promised in its manifesto, the BJP government has curtailed 10 per cent of existing employment in the government sector. The last five years witnessed an unprecedented hike in fees in all educational institutions, which affected the poor and ordinary people. Rural areas are suffering the most due to lack of development.

The government failed to prevent atrocities on weaker sections including women, Dalits, other backward castes and minorities. Corrupt and criminal elements have been inducted as ministers in the government.

The BJP shamelessly supports US imperialism and vigorously pursues the anti-national economic policy of globalisation that destroys our economy. This exposes the hypocrisy of its ‘swadeshi’ slogan.

The BJP is the political arm of the RSS that represents communal terrorism. The assassination of Mahatma Gandhi, the demolition of Babri Masjid, the killing of thousands of innocent people in communal riots and the brutal murder of Australian missionary Graham Staines and his children are only a few examples of this communal terrorism.

The various scams from UTI to Kargil coffin deals have exposed the BJP as a thoroughly corrupt and immoral political party.

The SFI-DYFI statement said the BJP’s defeat is imminent and will have far-reaching effects on national politics. The Lok Morcha is committed to fighting communalism and anti-national economic ‘reforms’ and its victory in UP will help the secular and democratic forces to push back the corrupt, anti-people parties like the BJP and the Congress. The Lok Morcha’s victory in UP will help it emerge as an immediate alternative to the BJP as well as the Congress in national politics. (INN)
