Nepal: UML And ML Set To Reunite

NEARLY three years after having split into two independent parties, now the Communist Party of Nepal (United Marxist-Leninist) and the Communist Party of Nepal (Marxist-Leninist) are set to reunite.

Top leaders of the two parties have been holding hectic talks in the past couple of weeks to reunite the two parties in the days to come. CPN(UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal played host to the first meeting while CPN(ML) general secretary Bamdev Gautam’s house was the venue for the second meeting held a few days ago.

Leaders of both the parties realise that both have lost a good portion of their cadres and support bases because of the split.

The reunification is expected to take place before the seventh general convention of the CPN(UML), slated to take place in less than a year.
