On Abolition of KCHR
THE IHC, in its 62nd session held at Bhopal, is deeply concerned over the decision of the government of Kerala to abolish the Kerala Council of Historical Research (KCHR).
The KCHR was formed with the objective of promoting research and communication in history on scientific and secular lines. It was headed by one of the leading historians of India and its members included historians of repute all over the country. The decision to abolish the KCHR was taken without giving any reason.
The congress deplores the act of the government of Kerala as it looks upon it that it will be detrimental to the growth of history. The congress requests the government to reconsider the decision and encourage the growth of critical consciousness through the discipline of history.
