CPC Study Team Meets CPI(M) Leaders
AN eight member cadre study delegation led by Li Junru, vice-president, central party school of the Communist Party of China (CPC) visited India from January 23 to 31 at the invitation of the central committee of the CPI(M).
The Chinese delegation held discussions with party general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet, Polit Bureau members Sitaram Yechuri, S Ramchandran Pillai and Central Committee member Hari Singh Kang at the party headquarters, AKG Bhavan on January 30. Later, Surjeet hosted a dinner for the visiting delegation.
The delegation visited the central offices of All India Kisan Sabha, All India Agricultural Workers Union and Centre of Indian Trade Unions and held discussions with the office-bearers of these organisations.
They also paid a visit to the CPI central office Ajoy Bhavan and held discussions with CPI general secretary A B Bardhan.
Earlier this delegation arrived directly at Chennai on January 23 and visited the CPI(M) state committee office on the same day. They held discussions with the state leadership of the party.
From there the delegation went to West Bengal and stayed there for three days. During this period they visited the state committee office at Alimuddin Street and held discussions with Samar Mukherjee, chairman, Control Commission of CPI(M) and state leaders. They also visited Kolkata district committee office and Ganashakti daily newspaper office.
With an intention of getting a feel of the urban and rural areas of the state they visited Chandernagore Municipal Corporation in Hoogly district and met its mayor and councillors. Later they went to gram panchayats of Narna (Jagdishpur block) and Bankra III in Howrah district.
