CPI(M)
Calls
For
Intense
Poll
Campaign
ON
December
5,
the
CPI(M)’s
Tripura
state
committee
fervently
called
upon
the
Left
Front
activists
and
supporters
to
consolidate
the
increasing
confidence
of
the
people
of
Tripura
in
the
Left
Front
and
reinforce
the
political-organisational
campaign
for
formation
of
a
fifth
Left
Front
government
so
as
to
press
ahead
with
the
ongoing
process
of
peace
and
progress
in
the
state.
This
call
came
following
a
two-day
meeting
of
the
state
committee
in
Agartala.
Addressing
the
state
committee
meeting,
CPI(M)
Polit
Bureau
member
Prakash
Karat
apprised
it
of
the
party’s
review
and
evaluation
of
the
current
national
and
international
scenario,
with
special
emphasis
on
the
party’s
call
for
stepping
up
the
publicity
campaign
against
the
BJP’s
anti-national
policies
and
communal
politics.
This
was
all
the
more
necessary
in
view
of
the
increasing
activities
of
imperialist
powers
and
of
the
communal
forces
in
India.
Karat
wanted
the
party
to
vigorously
campaign
also
against
the
dangerous
anti-national
alliance
of
the
Congress
party
with
the
INPT,
political
mask
of
the
imperialist-sponsored
extremists.
This,
he
felt,
would
help
unmask
the
incorrigibly
unprincipled
character
of
the
Congress.
The
state
committee
made
a
brief
review
of
the
pre-poll
scenario
and
of
the
implementation
of
various
protest
and
publicity
programmes
in
the
period
since
its
last
session.
It
noted
with
satisfaction
that,
in
the
teeth
of
ferocious
extremist
attacks
and
the
centre’s
ruthless
application
of
its
policy
of
pro-imperialist
globalisation,
the
process
of
peace
and
prosperity
in
Tripura
has
actively
contributed
to
the
multifarious
development
of
the
state
and
to
the
protection
of
democratic
values.
This
performance
has
added
to
the
esteem
in
which
the
Left
Front
is
held
by
the
people
of
Tripura,
which
is
being
reflected
in
the
increasingly
massive
participation
of
people
in
the
mass
movements
and
propaganda
campaigns
called
by
the
Left
Front
and
its
frontal
organisations.
As
a
result
there
is
growing
isolation
and
emasculation
of
extremists
and
their
accomplices.
Since
the
last
session
of
the
party
state
committee,
24
extremists
have
surrendered
alongwith
sophisticated
arms,
while
security
forces
have
nabbed
35
extremists
alongwith
23
associates.
In
vehement
opposition
to
the
perfidious
and
perilous
alliance
of
the
Congress
with
the
INPT,
there
are
almost
daily
defections
of
leaders,
activists
and
supporters
from
the
Congress
ranks
in
several
areas.
The
CPI(M)
has
urged
the
people
of
Tripura
to
consolidate
this
statewide
wave
of
the
Left
Front’s
popularity
and
set
up
the
political-organisational
campaign
for
the
formation
of
the
fifth
Left
Front
government
so
as
to
move
ahead
with
the
momentum
towards
peace
and
prosperity
in
the
state.
The
party
especially
alerted
the
Left
Front
activists
against
any
miscreants
that
might
rear
their
heads
to
vitiate
the
pre-poll
atmosphere.
The
party
once
again
reminded
the
centre
of
its
responsibility
in
ensuring
free
and
fair
polls
in
Tripura.
It
reiterated
its
demand
for
deployment
of
adequate
security
forces
including
army
in
the
state,
in
view
of
the
centre’s
own
admission
within
and
outside
the
parliament
that
CIA-ISI-sponsored
separatist
extremists
have
been
carrying
out
atrocities
in
Tripura
from
across
their
sanctuaries
in
Bangladesh
territory.
In
the
meantime,
CPI(M)
units
observed
Solidarity
Day
on
the
tenth
anniversary
of
Babri
Masjid
demolition
on
December
6
or
7,
as
was
called
by
the
CPI(M)
state
committee,
and
also
ensured
success
of
a
rally
on
December
14
organised
by
the
Scheduled
Caste
Coordination
Committee.
Now
they
are
mobilizing
people
for
the
Ganatantrik
Nari
Samity’s
rally
on
December
29
and
for
statewide
observance
of
Janashiksha
Divas
(People’s
Education
Day)
on
December
27.
The
CPI(M)
has
also
asked
its
divisional
committees
to
chalk
out
well-coordinated
programmes
for
starting
the
election
campaign
by
the
month
of
December.
