People's Democracy(Weekly Organ of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) |
Vol.
XXVI No. 50 December 22,2002 |
THE
Bengal
unit
of
the
CPI
(M)
has
resolved
to
institute
a
system
of
rigorous
check
up
of
the
Party
tasks
on
a
daily
basis.
Every
Party
member
shall
have
to
write
out
the
Party
tasks
performed
every
day
and
submit
the
report
to
the
concerned
Party
committee.
The
basic
objective
of
the
exercise
is
to
further
consolidate
the
Party
organisation
and
to
re-activate
those
Party
members
who
have
become
somewhat
inactive
over
the
years.
The
daily
reports
will
be
recorded,
collated,
and
scrutinised
for
further
action.
The
process
will
include
every
Party
committee
from
the
Party
branch
units
right
up
to
the
state
committee.
This
decision
was
taken
at
a
meeting
of
the
Party
state
committee
held
recently,
which
was
presided
over
by
Polit
Bureau
member
of
the
CPI
(M),
Biman
Basu.
Speaking
on
the
decision,
state
secretary
of
the
Bengal
unit
of
the
CPI
(M)
Anil
Biswas
said
that
the
step
should
be
regarded
as
a
part
of
the
ongoing
system
of
check
up
of
the
Party
tasks
performed
by
the
Party
members.
“The
aim
is
to
unify
the
various
systems
of
check
ups
in
use
and
make
it
a
continuous
process,”
said
Biswas.
The
first
appraisal
exercise
will
be
held
between
January
1
and
March
31,
2003,
and
the
review
will
be
completed
by
April
15
at
the
level
of
the
various
Party
committees.
Printed
forms
will
be
issued
to
the
Party
members
to
record
their
task
schedules.
Anil
Biswas
spoke
on
the
unfolding
international
situation
and
explained
the
stand
of
the
central
committee
of
the
CPI
(M)
in
this
regard.
He
also
dwelt
at
length
on
the
national
scenario.
The
state
committee
meeting
discussed
the
programme
of
campaign-movement
organised
statewide
over
the
past
two
months,
and
adopted
a
political-organisational
programme
for
the
coming
two
months.
The
state
committee
has
urged
upon
Party
members
to
ensure
that
the
central
rally
of
the
CPI
(M)
on
January
12
at
the
Brigade
Parade
grounds
was
a
well-deserved
success.
Meetings
will
be
held
in
December
later
this
year
on
the
erosion
of
the
banks
of
the
Ganga-Padma
Rivers
at
the
level
of
the
districts
affected
by
the
continuing
crumbling
of
the
riverbanks.
The
state
committee
resolved
to
say
that
the
constant
attack
on
the
Party
and
the
Left
Front
by
the
opposition
forces,
abetted
by
a
section
of
the
media,
had
contributed
to
strengthening
the
resolve
to
organise
bigger
rallies
and
other
programmes
to
frustrate
the
designs
of
the
opposition.
In
the
process
the
mass
base
and
the
striking
power
of
the
Bengal
unit
of
the
CPI
(M)
have
gone
up.
There
was
little
cause
for
self-satisfaction,
however,
and
the
state
committee
urged
upon
the
Party
workers
to
remain
amidst
the
masses
consistently
and
to
participate
in
their
joys
and
sorrows,
attempting
all
the
while
to
increase
the
level
of
political
consciousness
among
them.
