DUJ Condemns Arrest Of Tehelka Editor

   

THE Delhi Union of Journalists has condemned the arrest of the investigative editor of the Tehelka news portal Aniruddha Bahal and termed it as a continuation of the series of attacks on journalists, particularly, investigative journalists.

 

In a joint statement issued by S K Pande, president and Javed Faridi, general secretary of DUJ on August 7, have called upon journalists, union members and concerned citizens of Delhi to join in huge numbers a 'March to Parliament' being organised by the DUJ next week to protest against continuing attacks on the press. The date will be announced shortly.

 

The attacks follow a pattern and are target specific the statement added, as can be seen from the raids on Outlook, the continuous harassment of Tehelka, the arrest of journalists discussing the situation in Nepal, and  the arrest of Iftekar Gilani still languishing in jail besides the arrest of the editor of the Voice of Buddha.
