Arafat Thanks CPI(M) For Support
Yassir Arafat, president of the Palestine Liberation Organisation’s executive committee, president of the Palestinian National Authority and president of the State of Palestine, sent to the CPI(M) general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet the following message on March 26, thanking the party for its support to the Palestinian people’s cause. The support was reiterated by the 17th CPI(M) congress at Hyderabad.
HAVE received with high appreciation the important resolution adopted by the 17th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in which you have renewed your firm solidarity with the people of Palestine and expressed a strong condemnation of the acts of killings, brutalities, atrocities and barbaric attacks being perpetrated by the occupying army of Israel against our people and national institutions. We express our deep gratitude for all that. Your support and solidarity carries high and vital moral responses at this critical stage and decisive moment which our people are passing through, as a result to the war of extermination and ethnic cleansing perpetrated by the government of Israel, resorting to all the destructive arms in its military arsenal. By this, the government of Israel aims at forcing capitulation on our people, destroying their resolve and steadfastness, devastating their infrastructure, and eliminating their National Authority, to consolidate its occupation and settlement on our land and sanctities.
Our people of Palestine highly value these firm and principled positions which your party has always adopted along with all peace, freedom and justice loving people around the world. We highly value your support to the just struggle of our people for ending the Israeli occupation and for the establishment of an independent state of Palestine with holy Jerusalem as its capital.
Finally, I thank you for all that and wish you very good health and happiness. With my best wishes for success and prosperity to your party, and to the leadership, cadres and members of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)!
