Greetings From JCP

THE Central Committee of the Japanese Communist Party (JCP) sends heartfelt greetings of solidarity on the occasion of the 17th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist).

Your party has been striving to change the pro-‘globalisation’ politics which promotes the interests of multinational corporations at the expense of the working people of India, as well as to develop Indian democracy with a variety of ethnic and religious groups and cultures coexisting under the secular principle of separation of state and religion. It is also successfully leading the progressive local governments in West Bengal and other places, which defend the people’s interests

The Japanese Communist Party hopes that your party’s congress will further contribute to the advance of these struggles.

In the first year of the 21st century, international terrorist attacks were launched on the economic and military centres of the US last September and the US waged a retaliatory war against Afghanistan. This made it clear that elimination of international terrorism is one of the most important tasks for world peace in the 21st century.

The US has now identified a group of countries as the "axis of evil" and openly stated that it would not hesitate to attack them militarily, which has drawn concern and criticism from around the world, including its European allies. If such a US position is tolerated --- that it is able to wage a war against whichever countries it identifies as "enemies of peace" --- it is tantamount to replacing an international order based on the principles of the UN charter, such as no use of military forces and respect for sovereignty, with an order dictated by US hegemonism.

In the 21st century, people’s efforts to establish a world promoting peace based on the UN charter, and to urgently abolish weapons of mass destruction, including nuclear weapons, are becoming more and more important. A quest for peaceful coexistence of civilisations will also be an essential theme. Establishment of a new democratic world economic order is fervently needed, one that is in opposition to an economic order in the interests of multinational corporations and international financial capital in the name of "globalisation."

The JCP is looking forward to promoting cooperation with your party on these and other tasks of common concern.
