Greetings From CP Chile

RECEIVE, through me, the fraternal greetings of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Chile for the important event like the 17th congress of the CPI(M). We send you our best wishes for the success of the congress.

The struggle of the Indian people for their freedom and independence is very well known. The communists, in particular the communists of Southern America, have strong feelings of solidarity and friendship for the millenary culture of the Indian people.

We form a part of the underdeveloped countries who provide raw materials and consumer goods at low price to the imperialist powers who, in turn, sell their goods to us and throw our people into misery, unemployment and social insecurity.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) and the Communist Party of Chile are fighting a common kind of struggle against old injustices, particularly the injustices meted out by the imperialists who resorted to the policies of aggression in Asia, the Middle East and Colombia in order to impose their rule on the whole mankind. It is these imperialists who launched aggressions against the socialist Cuba and against the innocent people of Afghanistan.

The working of the imperialists differ from one country to another, depending on a country’s state of development. But all of them have the same objective: to impose their hegemony and their own way of thinking through the capital’s new liberal globalisation, through the powers of the multinational companies.

The American imperialists and their partners, especially the British and other developed countries are --- with the help of the NATO, World Bank and IMF --- in the process of destroying all the achievements made by the masses after the first and second world wars.

In the name of a "New Order," the imperialists are trying to build a new system of global domination, which will destroy the international order and the national sovereignty of various peoples. However, an analysis of the international situation points out clearly that the neo-liberals and capitalists have failed because all the measures they have implemented did not relieve the people from their miseries; rather they increased the gap between the poor and the rich.

Now the poor are fighting to reduce this gap and defeat the imperialists. The people’s struggle will open big opportunities and through their struggles the people will create their own alternatives. The great manifestations from Seattle to the World Social Forum of Porto Alegre have the potential to realise the unity needed for the achievement of a fairer, new economic, political and social system. We have before us one great objective, that is, democracy with the perspective of socialism. We give our full support to this movement. We participate in these struggles, in the struggles of the Communist Parties, and also in the struggles of the organisations for preservation of environment. The whole of mankind is to be mobilised for the same objective.

We once again convey our fraternal greetings to the 17th congress of the CPI(M) and hope to extend our bilateral relations in future.

Gladys Marin Millie

Secretary General
