THE CPI(M) has decided not to send its MP in the official delegation to the UN backed international conference on apartheid and racial discrimination at Durban South Africa starting from August 31.
The CPI(M) has taken the decision since the official stand of the government of India is opposed to the inclusion of the caste oppression on the agenda of the conference. The MPs going as delegates along with Mr Bangaru Laxman, leading the BJP MPs, will echo the official stand.
The CPI(M) had all along demanded that the government of India should ask for the inclusion of caste oppression in the agenda of the conference.
Consequent to the decision, Bharati Rai, a CPI(M) member of parliament who was earlier nominated to go along with the delegation, has now withdrawn. (INN)
