UDF’s Macabre Dance In Nadapuram

NADAPURAM is burning; Kasarkod is burning; Kerala is today in a virtual state of siege by the UDF, especially the IUML workers. It is real mobocracy in action. The UDF ministers are leading the attacks on the CPI(M) and LDF workers. Even Malayala Manorama has some words to question this type of governance in the streets.

The IUML extremist wing continues its spree of attacks through out the area after they brutally murdered Comrade Binu in broad daylight. The hoodlums who surely do not exhibit the least semblance of possessing human conscience, even attacked the funeral journey of Binu. Even before the funeral procession with the mortal remains of the martyr reached the Kallachi town, thousands had assembled there to pay their last tearful respect to their martyr who was killed by the unbridled assassins. The gathering included a large number of women and children. When the funeral procession reached the town of Kallachi at 5 p m, the procession was incessantly welcomed by bomb explosions by the IUML men. In the melee that followed the assailants destroyed the microphone system, which was arranged to be used in the condolence meeting. The bombs were all very strong in steel cases and very efficiently produced.

The mourners were taken aback by such brutal and irresponsible actions of the workers of a ruling party. The bomb attack left many injured including a deputy superintendent of police. Following this, the Kallachi- Theruvamparambu region is burning with looting, arson, and manhandling of all types. People are leaving their houses. The assailants freely torch shops and houses. Noises of bomb explosions are heard everywhere. The area has the look of a battlefield where one-sided massacre is taking place. It seems that nobody’s heart is lacerated by the ignominious incidents.

The police remain helpless in the face of the one-sided assaults by the ruling party men. They had to resort to firing in the air five times on June 3, in a bid to bring the situation under control. Five rounds were fired. Still looting and bombing continues unabated. Those returning to their homes from the funeral were also severely attacked. A number of vehicles were set on fire. Traces of humanism have already left the IUML-UDF men. Their workers are on a spree of violence everywhere in their intoxication of the ill-gotten power in the state.

"HONEYMOON OF POWER"

The UDF big guys have not opened their mouths. A minister and his human convoy even attacked the Medical College Hospital by entering in hundreds in the prohibited hours and creating a scene within the hospital. They damaged the drip tubes being applied to patients and everything else which came in their view. The present situation is described not by some non-entity in the UDF but by the KPCC president K Muraleedharan himself as "the fall out of honeymoon of power." As usual, chief minister Antony has not opened his holy mouth to utter a single word regarding the atrocities on the people. He never speaks when it is required of him, while he speaks when it is not required. Perhaps his words would come out after a long period and those words would, in his characteristic way, condemn the victims of the assaults and exonerate the culprits.

The deafening silence of the UDF-IUML leadership gives credence to the charge that they seem to have given permission, rather a command to launch these assaults. The media that shed tears during the LDF regime for even the smallest lapse on part of the policemen, now seems not to know what is happening in Nadapuram and different areas of Kasarkod district.

The Kerala state secretariat of the CPI(M) has asked the government and the chief minister to end their complacency and act promptly to curb the mayhem and book the culprits.

The body of Comrade Binu was cremated in the presence of thousands of people including leaders of the party and the LDF. The IUML-UDF scribes had subjected the martyr to several types of harassment and he is said to be implicated in a rape case. The case was most inhumanly fabricated and the arch story maker in this case is said to be none other than the present chief minister of Kerala. But the medical report in the incident categorically rejects that any rape had taken place. In fact, the woman who was made a tool in the hands of the UDF has herself denied of any such attempt on the part of anybody. What actually transpired is not yet known; however, the martyr Comrade Binu is a beloved in his place and in the fields of activity, which he indulged in.
