Chinese Delegation Visits CPI(M) Office
SEVEN-MEMBER delegation of the Chinese Association for International Understanding (CAFIU) visited India from November 27 to December 4, at the invitation of A K G Research Centre, Thiruvananthapuram. The delegation was headed by Professor Li Yining, vice president of the CAFIU and member of the Standing Committee of National Peoples Congress (NPC) of China.
During its Delhi visit, the delegation met former union finance minister Dr Manmohan Singh, parliaments finance committee chairman Shivraj Patil and commerce minister Murasoli Maran. It held discussions on the role of WTO and the impact of liberalisation on the government of Indias economic policies, along with the trade and commerce issues of mutual interest.
The delegation also visited the CPI(M) Central Committee office on November 30 where it exchanged views with the party general secretary Harkishan Singh Surjeet. CPI(M) Polit Bureau members S Ramachandran Pillai and Sitaram Yechury and Central Secretariat member Hari Singh Kang also participated.
