Tripura: One More CPI(M) Leader Killed
CONTINUING their desperate carnage, NLFT gunmen killed yet another CPI(M) leader Comrade Uday Debbarma (38) on August 8th morning in Takarjala area of Jampuijala block in Tripura. This comes on the heels of killing of four veteran CPI(M) and Upajati Ganamukti Parishad (GMP) leaders during the past ten days in north Tripura.
Comrade Uday Debbarma was a local committee member of the party and chairman of Jampuijala block development advisory committee.
The militants kidnapped Comrade Uday Debbarman and shot him from point blank range in the head and abdomen.
According to villagers, NLFT gunmen and their political protégé and patron IPFT miscreants had plotted to kill Comrade Uday Debbarma in a meeting held earlier in the house of a local IPFT leader. A few days ago Comrade Uday Debbarmas wife was kidnapped by the extremists but was rescued by the police two days later. Yet he boldly carried out partys assignment and development works in his area which is under the IPFT-ruled Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council.
In separate statements CPI(M) state secretariat and GMP central committee, AIKS and chief minister Manik Sarkar vehemently condemned Comrade Uday Debbarmas assassination as a part of a profound political plot to liquidate the leading leftists of the state who are on the vanguard of its struggle for peace and prosperity. The NLFT-IPFT combine aims at triggering anarchy in the blocks of remote areas with a view to demoralising the people.
