CPI general secretary A B Bardhan has sent the following message to Harkishen Singh Surjeet, general secretary of CPI(M), condoling the death of Comrade Shailendra Shaily :

I am very shocked and saddened at the death of Comrade Shailendra Shaily and particularly the circumstances surrouding it. A promising life has been cut short.

I convey deep condolences on behalf of the National Council of our Party.

Baidyanath Majumdar, secretary CPI(M) Tripura state committee, has sent this condolence message :

Tripura state committee of CPI(M) expresses its deep shock at the sudden death of Comrade Sailendra Shaily, member of the central committee and secretary, Madhya Pradesh state committee of CPI(M).

Please convey our heartfelt condolence to his wife, other family members and MP State Committee.

Kanak Mukherjee, West Bengal Ganatantrik Mahila Samity (AIDWA) has also condoled the death of Comrade Shaily :

Myself and all members of the West Bengal Ganatantrik Mahila Samity (AIDWA) are extremely grieved at the sad and sudden demise of own dear Comrade Shailendra Shaily, a most worthy member of our party and worthy son of our country. He left behind him the glorious example of his selfless work and revolutionary ideals which will enlighten for ever the path of his innumerable comrades and the new generation.

Federation of Medical and Sales Representatives of India (FMRAI) has sent the following message :

The members of FMRAI are shocked to know about the sudden and untimely death of Comrade Shailendra Shaily, secretary of Madhya Pradesh state committee of CPI(M) and central committee member. He was also vice president of CITU and was the chief guest in the Raipur general council meeting of FMRAI held in January 1997.

In his death, the democratic movement of Madhya Pradesh has lost a leader who had brilliant leadership qualities from his student age and was jailed in emergency period as a student.

FMRAI condoled his demise and extends condolence to the Madhya Pradesh state committee of CPI(M), and the bereaved members of the family.

In a joint statement DYFI & SFI have also condoled the death of Comrade Shaily

On the unfortunate and sad demise of our beloved comrade Shailendra Shaily, the central executive committees (C.E.C.) of the DYFI and SFI expresses its deep shock and grief and conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family and to the comrades of left movement. Comrade Shaily joined the left movement in the early years of seventies when he was a student in Gwalior. He was a brilliant student and became the secretary of the Madhya Pradesh state committee of the SFI. He was all India joint secretary of SFI. Later on he organised the trade union movement and became the secretary of the state committee of CPI(M) and the central committee member of the party.

He was a powerful orator and writer in Hindi. He was popular young leader. The tragic manner in which his life ended has shocked and saddened everyone.
