CPI(M) to Observe MB Birth Centenary

WHILE meeting held in Agartala on December 13-15, 2013, the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) decided to observe M Basavapunnaiah birth centenary year from December 14, 2013, which was his birthday.

Since Comrade MB’s main contribution to the party and the communist movement was in the ideological sphere, the Central Committee decided that the focus of the centenary celebrations should be on an ideological campaign.

Therefore, the Central Committee has asked the state committees of the party to plan how to observe the campaign in the coming 12 months on the following issues:

1) The ideological understanding of the party as contained in the 20th congress ‘Resolution on Some Ideological Issues.’

2) Application of Marxism-Leninism to the concrete conditions of Indian society in its various aspects – political economy, history, philosophy, class and caste, social and cultural issues.

Various party committees have been asked to organise discussions, seminars and meetings concerning these issues.

As per another decision, the party centre will bring out a booklet on the life and work of Comrade M Basavapunnaiah.
