Ordinance Opposed

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement on September 25.

THE Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) opposes the ordinance regarding the disqualification of sitting members of parliament and state legislators. The UPA government is repeatedly using the ordinance route, which is undemocratic. The matter regarding the disqualification of elected members who are convicted should have been discussed in parliament and appropriate steps taken.
