LIC Agents to Strike Work in Kerala

THE LIC agents throughout Kerala  are going to conduct a strike against the new reforms affecting them and the policy holders. The two major organisations of agents in Kerala – LIC Agents’ Organisation  of India (CITU) and All India  LIC Agents’ Federation  jointly  are going on strike on February 8 in support of the All India Strike of LIC agents on February 20-21, 2013.

The strike is to protect the interest of LIC, agents and policy holders, and their demands are –  withdraw insurance bill, withdraw move for FDI hike in insurance sector, withdraw service charge on policy and commission and give that amount as bonus to policy holders, reduce the interest on policy loans, reinstate cash mode for payment of interest and loan, withdraw direct marketing, remove direct sales executives from LIC, do not make bankers as brokers, remove anomalies and increase gratuity, withdraw the amendments to agents’ regulation 1972, do not stop conventional policies, implement the charter of demands of both the agents’ organisations, etc.

Different trade union and political leaders will address the dharna in front of LIC branches all over the state. The agents will not transact any business on February 8 from 10 am to 5 pm. The organization has appealed all agents to co-operate and participate in this struggle to protect their genuine interest and that of the policy holders and LIC itself.
