Chinese Delegation Visits CPI (M) Headquarters

 

A six-member delegation of the Communist Party of China (CPC) visited the headquarters of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on November 27, 2012. The delegation of the CPC was led by Li Junru, member of the Standing Committee of the Chinese Peoples' Political Consultative Conference and former vice president of the Central Party School of the CPC. The other members of the delegation were Huang Huaguang, director general, Research Office, International Department of the CPC, Zhang Yansheng, secretary general, Academic Committee, National Development and Reform Commission, Zhang Guangping, Liang Bihan and Tang Yu.

 

The delegation briefed about the recently concluded 18th Party Congress of the CPC, the discussions, decisions and the new goals set forth in the Congress. They also briefed about the election of the new Central Committee and the new leadership. They had handed over a personally signed letter from Xi Jinping, newly elected general secretary of the CPC to Prakash Karat, general secretary of the CPI(M), thanking him for the congratulatory message on his election as the general secretary of the party.

 

Sitaram Yechury, Polit Bureau member and Head, International Department of the CPI(M) led the Indian delegation in the discussions. Other members who took part in the discussions were Nilotpal Basu, Central Secretariat Member, Rajendra Sharma, Central Committee Member, R Arun Kumar, member, International Department and G Mamatha, Editorial team member of Peoples' Democracy.
