Message from the Central Committee of AKEL

THE Central Committee of AKEL expresses its warm fraternal and militant greetings of solidarity to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on the occasion of its 20th congress.

We would like to express our solidarity with your struggles for the safeguarding of the rights of the working class in India and with your struggles for secular democracy, freedom, equality and social progress. We wish that this congress will set the base for further struggles and will contribute to the strengthening of your party, its mass activities and organisation.

Your Congress is convening in difficult conditions for the working class, the people of India and the globe. Humanity has been witnessing a global financial crisis that constitutes the clearest indication of the failure of the capitalist system itself and of the neo-liberal policies that have exacerbated this crisis.

International imperialism and the neo-liberal strategies of the ruling classes of the most developed capitalist countries are waging a ferocious attack on working people's rights and gains. We therefore believe that the communist, progressive and peace-loving forces around the world should rally their forces in a front against imperialism and war for the safeguarding of workers’ rights, for peace, sovereignty and freedom.

The people of Cyprus have also been a victim of imperialism's machinations and foreign interference. Cyprus, as well as India, was for many years under foreign colonial rule which, inter alia, tried to perpetuate its domination through its policy of divide and rule in order to serve imperialisms interests. Our people, Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots, are still struggling for freedom and against the division and partition of Cyprus as a result of the role of imperialism as well of the diachronic role of nationalism and chauvinism.

We would like to thank you for your party’s consistent solidarity to our party, Cyprus and its people in our struggle against the Turkish occupation for the reunification of our people and our country, within the framework of a bi-zonal, bi-communal federal solution, with political equality as set out by the relevant UN resolutions, for a united federal state with a single sovereignty, a single international personality and a single citizenship.

As AKEL, we believe that the communist, Left, progressive and working class forces around the world must take more decisive steps to project the alternative path of socialism to our societies and the world. We have to unite our forces in the struggle against the unjust, aggressive, imperialist attacks and strengthen our solidarity with all peoples who are struggling for their rights and are fighting against the assault of capital and imperialism.

Accept once more our wishes for fruitful and successful deliberations on the occasion of your 20th congress and all the best in your future struggles.

Message from Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB)

ESTIMATED comrade delegates to the 20th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), receive our warmest and fraternal salutation from the Communist Party of Brazil.

Estimated comrades,

Your congress is taking place amidst one of the gravest crises of world capitalism in its whole history when we are watching the economic decline of the USA and a quick ascension of great countries known as the developing ones, in particular the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa).

These events have important impacts on the correlation of forces in the world. The most important of these is the acceleration of the trend towards multipolarity on the political and economic planes. However, this tendency doesn’t represent by itself a more harmonious world; on the contrary, in the context of the deepening crisis of capitalist system, the trend is of an intensification of the conflicts and of aggressions of imperialism against the peoples throughout the world.

Imperialism acts this way while camouflaging itself under the discourse of human rights. It is threatening the Middle East countries like Syria, Iran and Lebanon, the socialist countries, and the progressive governments of countries such as in Latin America, especially the Bolivarian Venezuela.

As pointed out by Comrade Lenin, peace has become more than ever a revolutionary flag and a requisite for development of national economies with sovereignty and self-determination.

Estimated comrades of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),

As the historical experience has well shown, this crisis will not lead automatically to an end of capitalism. However, our mission as communist parties is to extract from it as much as we can, in order to forge the subjective conditions of advance and mass actions by organising the working class.

In the concrete and material reality today, the most important challenge is to demonstrate to the workers that the existing financial system and imperialism are the main enemies of human progress today. It is our historic duty to remember the central contradiction of the system, which is the individual appropriation of socially produced value, as demonstrated by Marx.

In our region, i.e. Latin America, we are at an important juncture, with the communists, Leftists and workers’ parties participating in progressive governments and actively influencing the building of alternatives to the hegemonic project of imperialism. The main objective has been integration based on solidarity. We are a party with presence in President Dilma Rousseff’s government, and we are in a process of expansion.

Comrade delegates to the 20th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist),

On March 25 last, the Communist Party of Brazil completed 90 years of its struggle for socialism, sovereignty and national development, for democracy and rights for workers.

The twenty-first century, recently started, poses great challenges for us, the communists, in our struggle for overthrow of capitalism and our quest for socialism. We need, therefore, to close our revolutionary ranks and strive for strong presence among the masses.

We are sure that the political and ideological debates of your congress will contribute to creating an environment for progress of the CPI(M) on all fronts as well as help in the international debate within the communist movement.

We reaffirm once again the admiration and friendship of PCdoB for the CPI(M).

Long live the 20th congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist)!

Long live the friendship of Indian and Brazilian peoples!

Long live the friendship of the CPI(M) and the PCdoB!

Friendly,

--- Renato Rabelo, national president of the Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB), and Ricardo Alemão Abreu, secretary, International Relations, Communist Party of Brazil (PCdoB)

Message from the Communist Party of Britain

THE Communist Party of Britain sends its warmest international greetings and solidarity to the Communist Party of India (Marxist) on the occasion of its 20th congress.

British communists value greatly the close comradely relations that exist between our two parties.

Your congress documents provide an analysis of heightening imperialist aggression, and of its roots in the current crisis of monopoly capital, that is of importance to all communists. This developing phase, marked by new forms of primitive accumulation through the political destruction of the pubic sector and the enforced opening of markets, threatens the working people across the world.

British communists share your grave concerns at current attempts to reimpose an imperialist stranglehold across the Middle East and the wider dangers of war. Such a war would strengthen reactionary forces at all levels. It must be resisted.

The Communist Party of Britain understands the pivotal position your party holds internationally. Your example in the practical application of Marxism to Indian circumstances, your defence of secularism and gender equality as part of the wider struggle for working class mobilisation, your steadfastness in face of repression and state violence, and your clear call for a socialist alternative inspires communists everywhere.

Dear Comrades, we wish your congress every success.

With communist greetings

--- Robert Griffiths, general secretary
