Central TUs Condemn

Bengal leaders’ Murder

 

The following is the statement issued by the central trade unions - BMS, INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, AICCTU, UTUC, TUCC, LPF and SEWA on February 22, 2012

 

THE central trade unions strongly condemn the cold blooded murder of Pradip Ta, CITU national general council member and a former MLA and Kamal Gayen, when they were leading a rally in Dewandighi area in Burdwan, in West Bengal in support of February 28 all India general strike called by the central trade unions and federations. Comrade Ta and Gayen were hacked to death and a number of rallyists were injured. CTUs deeply mourn the death of the martyred leaders. Their martyrdom will inspire the working class movement for bigger struggle in days ahead including the February 28 strike.

 

The central trade unions call upon the working class, and other democratic minded people in the country to raise their voice of protest against such violence and terror against the trade union and democratic movement.

 

The central trade unions further call upon the working class of West Bengal to fearlessly participate in the all India general strike on February 28, 2012.

 

CITU

STATEMENT

THE CITU strongly condemns the cold blooded murder of Comrade Pradip Ta, CITU national general council member and a former CPI(M) MLA and Comrade Kamal Gayen, a senior leader of the democratic movement when they were leading a rally in Dewandighi area in Burdwan in support of February 28 all India general strike called by the central trade unions and federations. The murderous preplanned brutal attack was made by Trinamool Congress sheltered goons and criminals. Comrade Ta and Gayen were hacked to death and a number of rallyists were injured. The CITU deeply mourns the death of their martyred comrades and pledges to intensify further its fight against the Jungle Raj perpetrated by the TMC government in West Bengal. Their martyrdom will inspire the working class movement for bigger struggle in days ahead including the February 28 strike.

 

The CITU calls upon the working class, the trade unions and other democratic minded people in the country to raise their voice of protest against such violence and terror against the trade union and democratic movement.
