Salary Delay Forces Worker
to Commit Suicide

Kolkata Tramways Corporation recently committed suicide due to a
financial
crisis, as workers of five public transport corporations in

to these corporations every year for their efficient functioning, and

Left Democratic Front government had provided more than Rs 600 crore to

public sector transport and given employment to 22,000 new workers
through the public
service commission. The corporation, which was sinking when the LDF
came to
power in 2006, was also expanded by providing it 1,000 new buses every
year. The
Kerala government also wrote off loans worth Rs 1,070 crore during the
time of the
LDF regime.
