CPI(M) Nominee
For Tripura RS Seat
THE
CPI(M) has nominated a woman leader, Jharna Das, for the sole Rajya
Sabha seat
from Tripura. Jharna Das is a member of the state committee of the
party. She
served as the chairperson of the State Social Welfare Board till her
nomination. Aged 50, she is a postgraduate and will have the
distinction of
being the first scheduled caste woman to be elected to the Rajya Sabha
from
Tripura.
