51ST ANNIVERSARY OF CUBAN REVOLUTION

CPI(M) Greets Communist Party of Cuba

The following is the text of the greetings sent by the Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) to the Communist Party of Cuba on December 29, 2010 on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

The General Secretary

Communist Party of Cuba

Havana

Dear Comrade,

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) is pleased to convey its warm fraternal greetings to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba and through it to the people of Cuba on the 51st anniversary of the Cuban Revolution.

The defeat of the notorious Batista regime and the victory of the Cuban revolution signaled the dawn of a new era in the Caribbean, in fact in Latin America. However, in the years since then, many overt and covert US imperialist inspired attacks to overthrow the government then headed by Comrade Fidel Castro and even assassinate him were successfully thwarted including the most notorious Bay of Pigs Invasion.

The Communist Party of India (Marxist) notes with pride the fact that the Cuban people have time and again expressed their determination to build socialism and defeat all US designs to undermine the revolution.

A series of UN resolutions calling for the lifting of the US imposed embargo and blockade of Cuba is an indicator of international opinion turning in favour of Cuba. Cuba has become a beacon of inspiration for the struggling peoples of Latin America and the Caribbean to take on the might of US imperialism and the neo-liberal agenda that the ruling classes have been pursuing in their respective countries.

On the occasion of the 51st anniversary of the Cuban revolution, we wish the Cuban people and the Communist Party of Cuba all success in their endeavour to consolidate the socialist gains and march forward.

We once again send our best wishes on this occasion.

Central Committee

Communist Party of India (Marxist)
