CITU EXTENDS FULL SUPPORT TO THE STRIKE

BY GURGAON-MANESWAR WORKERS

The Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) has issued the following statement on October 20

THE Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU) condoles the death of Ajit Yadav, the striking worker of RICO Pvt Ltd in Gurgaon on October 19 after the attack by hired goons of the RICO management with the help of the security guards of the company. The CITU strongly condemns the barbaric attack on peaceful striking workers of RICO whose genuine demands have been ignored and their trade union right of collective bargaining spurned with impunity by sacking the worker leaders of the trade union.

The CITU expresses its full solidarity with not only the striking workers of RICO but also with the struggle for trade union rights in the whole Gurgaon-Maneswar industrial belt wherein the labour laws of the land are being nakedly violated by the owners with active connivance and support of the state government.

The CITU, while extending its unstinted support to the strike call given by United Trade Union Council, comprising of all trade unions in the area, demands that the state government of Haryana to take immediate action against those responsible for the heinous murder of an innocent worker. It warns that the government at the centre would be held responsible for encouraging the jungle raj perpetrated by owners in Gurgaon industrial belt in the name of investment because of its failure to strictly enforce the labour laws of the land.
