Comrade Dr Sesha Reddy Condoled
CPI(M) general secretary Prakash Karat has sent the following message to CPI(M) Andhra state secretary B V Raghavulu on June 15, 2008 condoling the death of Dr J Sesha Reddy.
I AM deeply grieved to hear the news of the passing away of Dr Sesha Reddy. I came to know of the sad news only today when I returned to India.
Comrade Sesha Reddy dedicated his entire life to the service of the people through the medical profession. As a Marxist, he brought to his vocation a deep moral commitment and an unwavering pro-people attitude.
We all know how tirelessly he worked to build up the People's Poly Clinic at Nellore. This institution will remain as an enduring legacy. All those who came to know Dr Sesha Reddy were greatly influenced by his life and example. I had greatly benefited from the more than three decades long association with him which began with an introduction by Comrade P Sundarayya.
The entire Party will remember and cherish his memory.
Please convey my heartfelt condolences to his wife, children and his colleagues at Nellore.
CPI(M) Polit Bureau member Sitaram Yechury has sent the following message on June 14, 2008 condoling the death of Dr J Sesha Reddy.
THE death of Comrade Sesha Reddy is an irreparable loss for the CPI(M) in the country, particularly in Andhra Pradesh. It is a big loss for me personally. Since the death of Comrade P Sundarayya, Comrade Sesha Reddy had voluntarily taken upon himself the responsibility to enquire about my personal needs and requirements in order to discharge my responsibilities as a Party wholetimer. Even at the 19th Party Congress in Coimbatore recently, he meticulously enquired after my well-being and requirements.
Since his student days, Comrade Sesha Reddy worked relentlessly for the advance of the Communist movement and the class struggle in India. Having qualified as a medical doctor in Madras, he joined the People's Hospital started by Comrade Sundarayya's elder brother, P Ramachandra Reddy, in Nellore. Since then, till he breathed his last, with complete devotion and uninterrupted service, he contributed to making this institution of Praja Vaidyasala into a premier provider of health facilities for the people.
Comrade Sesha Reddy was a committed Marxist. For his relentless struggles to defend the revolutionary tenets of Marxism-Leninism, he was jailed for two years. Nothing could deter him from furthering the class struggle through various people's movements, particularly in the fields of popular science and the anti-war movements.
Having come into the thick of the Communist movement under the inspiration and leadership of Comrade P Sundarayya, Comrade Sesha Reddy served the Communist cause for nearly six decades.
I convey my deep and sincere condolences to our comrades in Nellore, the doctors and the establishment of the Praja Vaidyasala and his family members.
