JLS Condoles Qurratul-Ain Haider’s Demise

THE Janwadi Lekhak Sangh (JLS) has expressed its deep sense of grief over the demise of well-known and great Urdu writer Qurratul-Ain Haider. According to the JLS statement issued on August 21, the works by Qurratul-Ain Haider are a precious treasure of not only Urdu but of the entire Indian literature, and represent her unprecedented contribution to our literary tradition. She embraced in her fiction the values of India’s composite culture that has evolved over thousands of years, and she further enriched this culture.

The JLS statement further noted that there could not be two opinions about her novel Aag ka Dariya (The Stream of Fire) being an unparalleled work in Indian, rather in the whole of Asian literature. The organisation has conveyed its condolences to Qurratul-Ain Haider’s family members as well as readers.
