 Trinamul Goons Kill School Headmaster

B Prasant

MISCREANTS affiliated to the Trinamul Congress stabbed and shot to death headmaster of Gourdaha primary school, and CPI(M) worker, Comrade Ranjit Naskar (55) at Bansra in Canning in the district of south 24 Parganas.  Comrade Ranjit was done to death and his brother seriously injured when they had protested against the playing of loudspeakers illegally and at high decibel after midnight in connection with the autumn festival.

On October 26, the Trinamul Congress goons had been engaged in playing music over loudspeakers past midnight.  When Comrade Naskar, a much-respected teacher and a Kisan Sabha leader, came forward to request the festival organisers to stop playing the loudspeakers, he was assaulted with guns and knives.

Shot in the head and chest, and stabbed several times in the stomach, Comrade Naskar collapsed in a heap and succumbed to his injuries before help could arrive.  In the meanwhile, the criminals beat up his brother, Biswanath and his wife Padmarani, and slashed at them with sharp weapons: they cut off the ears of Biswanath and fled even as the local populace came out of their houses hearing the commotion and the cry of help of the injured.

Biswanath and Padmarani, fighting for their lives in the Canning sub-divisional hospital, have identified the assailants as Jagadish Naskar and Tapas Mondol.  Tapas Mondol has since been taken into police custody while Jagadish is absconding. The CPI(M) state secretary Anil Biswas has condemned the incident and called upon the administration to seize and bring to justice all the culprits involved in the incident as soon as possible.
